The European Commissioner for the Security Union, Sir Julian King, visited New York and Washington, DC from September 26th to October 1st, 2019.

During his visit to New York, he met with UN officials to discuss cooperation on counterterrorism:

• Vladimir Voronkov, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Office
• Michèle Coninsx, Executive Director, Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate, United Nations

He then traveled to Washington, DC, where he met with multiple U.S. officials covering a wide range of security matters: 

• Nathan Sales, Acting Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights
• Rear Admiral Peter Brown, Homeland Security Adviser
• Nazak Nikakhtar, Assistant Secretary for Industry and Analysis, U.S. Department of Commerce 
• David Pekoske, Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security

Commissioner King also spoke at an Atlantic Council Roundtable on the "Security of Digital Infrastructures" and at a Wilson Center event on "A State of Un-Peace: the EU’s Response to Asymmetric Threats" (read his speech here, listen to our EU NOW Podcast here, and watch the event here).
