The EU is negotiating a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with Indonesia with the objective to facilitate and create new market access, increase trade between the EU and Indonesia as well as to expand direct investment.

The EU officially launched negotiations with Indonesia on 18 July 2016.

The 7th round of negotiations with Indonesia, that took place in Brussels from 11 to 15 March 2019, brought about good progress across the board, particularly on the chapters on sanitary and phyto-sanitary measures, rules of origin and investment. The chapters on trade remedies and customs are now close to completion at technical level.

The 8th round of negotiations took place in Jakarta from 17 to 21 June 2019.
