Thirty-one (31) Ghanaian Students Receive EU Scholarships to Study in European Universities in 2021

The European Union (EU) has awarded scholarships to 31 young Ghanaians this year for various master’s degree programmes in universities across Europe under its Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s Degree programme.

This prestigious international study programme is part of the EU’s flagship educational and training programme, Erasmus+ supports education, training, youth and sports in Europe. A consortium of top grade European universities will award each of the 31 students with a master’s degree.

The EU Delegation to Ghana on Thursday, 12 August, organised a pre-departure sensitization event for the beneficiaries to offer them the opportunity to meet with other scholarship beneficiaries from Ghana and to give them the relevant orientation they need as scholarship awardees.

At the event, the EU Chargé d’affaires a. i, Mr. Pieter SMIDT VAN GELDER, Acting Head of the Delegation, addressed the participants.

Members of the ERASMUS Mundus Students Alumni Association in Ghana were present to share their experiences with the beneficiaries. They include Mr Enoch Ninson and Mr Rabiu Alhassan.  Also present was a co-ambassador for the Ghana branch of the African Student and Alumni Forum (ASAF) Ms Patience Mensa Gakpetor.

Background:

Increasing number of Ghanaians have been studying in Europe under different EU scholarship schemes over the past decade. Apart from scholarships, the Erasmus+ programme offers different opportunities for people of all ages, helping them develop and share knowledge and experiences at institutions and organizations across all the countries that make up the European Union.
