EU achievements in Mozambique

 

EUTM Mozambique, together with EUDEL held a combined event for the inauguration of a Hospital Incinerator, an Ammunition Depot and Presentation of Certificates to the military of the Quick Reaction Force of the Marines belonging to the FADM.

On 22 August 2024, at the Katembe Marine School, where the EUTM-Mozambique Training Camp is located, three different events of major importance to the European Union, Mozambique, EUTM and  Mozambique Armed Defence Forces( FADM) took place. Under the eye of EUDEL, representatives of the Member States of the EU, Mozambican  government and military officials, two Quick Impact Projects were inaugurated for the benefit of the population and the FADM. Also, certificates were awarded to the last FADM soldiers trained by the European Union Training Mission in Mozambique (EUTM-MOZ), marking the end of the European Union Military Training Mission to the FADM, which will be succeeded by the EU Military Assistance Mission Mozambique EUMAM MOZ) in September.

The first project is a Hospital Incinerator, to benefit the entire hospital community in the surrounding area. It ensures better environmental and safety conditions for the population. The unit was financed by Luxembourg, totalling 10,000 euros. The other project is an Ammunition Depot, which aims to guarantee the proper conditions for storing and handling explosive and dangerous material and is funded by Austria, totalling 50,000 euros. The ceremony to award certificates to the soldiers of the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) of the Marines of the FADM is the last before the end of the EUTM-MOZ Mission, which in three years has trained more than 1,700 soldiers, 100 trainers and equipped the 11 QRF with various individual and collective material and equipment, with a total value of 89 million euros.
