EEAS: High Representative Kaja Kallas announces middle and senior management nominations
Kaja Kallas, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, announces the appointments of 5 Senior Managers at the European External Action Service (EEAS) as well as the appointments of 36 Heads of Delegation and 2 Deputy Heads of Delegation of the European Union.
The 145 EU Delegations are the face of the EU in the world and the frontline in the protection of the EU’s interests abroad. They inform, implement and project the EU’s priorities and its foreign and security policy.
HERMANN Martin Bille has been appointed as the Managing Director for Multilateral Relations, Human Rights and Democracy/ Deputy Political Director. He is currently serving as the Permanent Representative of Denmark to OECD, IEA & UNESCO in Paris. He has formerly, among other positions, held the position of Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nation in New York, as well as State Secretary for Development Policy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark.
LLOMBART- CUSSAC Patricia has been appointed as the Managing Director for Africa. She is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Morocco. She has previously, among other positions, served as the EU Ambassador to Colombia and as Director for Infrastructure, security, budget, finances and IT in the EEAS Headquarters.
GIAUFRET Emanuele has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director for Europe and Central Asia. He has previously, among other functions, served as the Head of Delegation to Serbia.
LAHTI Taneli has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director for Global Issues. He has previously, among other functions, served as Head of Cabinet of former Commissioner for International Partnerships.
REECE MATTHEW has been appointed as the Deputy Managing Director for Policy Planning and Strategic Communication. He is currently serving as the Representative of the General Secretariat of the Council of the EU to the Political and Security Committee. He has formerly, among other positions, held the position of Head of Unit for European Neighbourhood.
HØEG Erik has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Argentina. He is currently serving as the Ambassador of Denmark to Colombia. He has previously, among other functions, served as Head of Mission for the EUMM in Georgia.
KUJUNDŽIĆ Marijana has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan. She is currently serving as the Croatian Representative to the Political and Security Committee (PSC). She has formerly, among other functions, held the position of Relex Counsellor at the Permanent Representation of Croatia to the EU.
RAMSEY Fiona has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Barbados. She is currently serving as Head of Unit of the Effective Development Policy and Team Europe Unit at the European Commission, DG INTPA. She has previously, alongside various other roles, held the position as Head of Cooperation in the EU Delegation to Cambodia.
BRONCHAIN Philippe has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Burkina Faso. He is currently the Director for Sub-Saharan-Africa and Special Envoy for the Great Lakes Region at the Belgian Federal Public Service of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation. He has prior to that, among other roles, served as the Ambassador of Belgium to Pakistan and Afghanistan.
MILLOT Sylvie has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Cabo Verde. She is currently holding the position of Head of Unit for Southern Africa and Indian Ocean at the European Commission, DG INTPA. Prior to that, among other positions, Ms MILLOT has served as the Head of Cooperation in the EU Delegation to Morocco.
ROUDIE François has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Colombia. He is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to El Salvador and the Central American Integration System (SICA). He has formerly, alongside various other roles, held the position as Deputy Head of Division for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean at the EEAS.
RAZAALY Irchad has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire. He is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Ghana. Among other posts, he has previously held the post of Head of Division for West Africa at the European External Action Service.
URBAN Jens has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Cuba. He is currently serving as the Special Envoy and Head of Task Force for the Sahel at the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. He has previously, among other positions, served as the Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Germany in Venezuela.
FUENTES MILANI Raul has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. He is currently serving as Advisor for Global Health to the State Secretary for External and Global Affairs in the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has previously, among other posts, held the post of Deputy Permanent Representative of Spain to the EU and EU Ambassador to Namibia.
BANDINI Duccio has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to El Salvador. He is currently serving as the Deputy Head of Division for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean in the EEAS. He has earlier, alongside with other positions, held the position of Head of Political, Trade, Press and Information Section at the EU Delegation to Venezuela.
DARMANIN Joanna has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Eritrea. She is currently serving as Head of Unit at the Thematic Policies Unit and International Humanitarian Law unit at the European Commission, DG ECHO. She has earlier, among other positions, held the position of Deputy Head of Unit at the European Commission Asylum Unit at DG HOME.
KARANKO Johanna has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Guatemala. She is currently serving as the Ambassador of Finland to Brazil. Ms KARANKO has previously, alongside other posts, held the post of Consul-General of Finland to Hong Kong and Macao.
BIANCHI Federico has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Guinea Bissau. He is currently holding the position of Head of Press and Public Diplomacy at the Delegation of the European Union to the United Kingdom. He has previously, alongside other positions, been the Head for Northern Europe at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
STICKER Xavier has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Guinea Conakry. He is currently serving as theAmbassador of France to Uganda. He has formerly, among other functions, held the position of Permanent Representative of France to the Office of the United Nations and International Organisations in Vienna.
PIERANTONI Luca has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Guyana. He is currently serving as Head of the Political team at the European Commission Representation to Italy. He has previously, among other posts, held the position as Head of Cooperation in the EU Delegation to Argentina.
ROOS Hélène has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Haiti. She is currently serving as Ambassador of France to Bolivia. Among other posts she has previously served as Director General and Head of the Cooperation and Cultural Department of the French Institute in Romania.
SEMTNER Klemens has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Iraq. He is currently serving as the Head of Division for Crisis Prevention, Stabilization, Peacebuilding – Policies and Instruments in the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany. He has formerly, among other functions, served as Consul General of Germany in Erbil, Iraq.
MANN Michael has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Israel. He is currently serving as the Head of Division for the Middle East – Israel, Occupied Palestinian Territories and Middle East Peace Process in the EEAS. He has formerly, among other functions, served as EU Ambassador to Iceland.
SUNNERGREN Mette has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Lesotho. She is currently serving as Ambassador of Sweden to Mozambique. She has formerly, among other posts, served as the Swedish Ambassador to Sudan.
ARISTI GAZTELUMENDI Daniel has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Malawi. He is currently serving as EU Ambassador to Burkina Faso. He has earlier, in addition to other functions, served as Deputy Head of Division for Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and the League of Arab States in the EEAS.
PIORKO BERMIG Iwona has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Moldova. She is currently serving as EU Ambassador to Singapore. She has earlier, among other roles, served as Head of Unit for International Affairs at the European Commission DG for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SME’s.
TZANTCHEV Dimiter has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Morocco. He is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Israel. He has previously, among other posts, served as the Bulgarian Permanent Representative to the EU.
FIEDRICH Marc has been appointed as the Chargé d'affaires a.i. to Myanmar. He has most recently served as the Ambassador to Timor-Leste and previously, alongside other positions, held the position as Head of Unit at the European Commission Service for Foreign Policy Instruments.
KAROBLIS Raimundas has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Pakistan. He is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Tajikistan. He has formerly, among other posts, been serving as Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania.
HASZNOS Erika has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Papua New Guinea. She is currently serving as the Head of Sector in the unit for Peace, Partnerships and Crisis Management in the EEAS. She has formerly among other roles served as Head of Political, Press and Information Section in the EU delegation to the Republic of Moldova.
AFHELDT Katja has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Paraguay. She is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to the Dominican Republic. She has formerly, alongside other positions, held the position as Head of Division for Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
VON BECKERATH Andreas has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Serbia. Among other posts, he previously held the positions of Ambassador of Sweden to Poland and Ukraine, and Deputy Director General for the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
BERTULIS Artis has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Singapore. He is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau. He has formerly, among other positions, served as the Latvian Ambassador to India and Sri Lanka.
DI MAURO Francesca has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Somalia. She is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire. Ms DI MAURO has previously, alongside other posts, served as the Head of Unit for Western Africa in the European Commission, DG INTPA.
ASTUTO Ugo has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to South Korea. He is currently serving as the Alternate Political Director for the Italian G7/G20 Presidency at the Italian Ministry for Foreign Affairs. He has previously, among other posts, served as the EU Ambassador to New Delhi and Deputy Managing Director for Asia Pacific at the EEAS.
ENARSSON Per has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to South Sudan. He is currently serving as Senior Advisor and Deputy Head of the New York Office for the United Nations Foundation. Mr ENARSSON has formerly, among other roles, served as the Swedish Ambassador to Eritrea.
KÜNNE Andreas has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. He is currently serving as the German Ambassador to Czechia. He has formerly, among other posts, been the Director for United Nations and Counterterrorism at the Foreign Office of the Federal Republic of Germany.
DARSKI Radoslaw has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Tajikistan. He is currently serving as the Deputy Director at the Eastern Department at the Polish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Mr DARSKI has formerly, among other posts, held the post of Head of Press, Political and Information Section in the EU Delegation to Uzbekistan.
BARGFREDE Thorsten has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Timor- Leste. He is currently serving as the Head of Sector in the Unit for Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zealand and Pacific. He has formerly, among other posts, held the position of Head of Political, Press and Information Section at the EU delegation to Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
MAVROMICHALIS Petros has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Uruguay. He is currently serving as the EU Ambassador to Switzerland and Liechtenstein. He has previously, among other roles, served as the Head of Division for Mexico and Central America in the EEAS.
POTZEL Deike has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva. She is currently serving as Director General for Crisis Prevention, Stabilisation, Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Assistance at the German Ministry for Foreign Affairs where she also serves as the Special Envoy for Middle East Humanitarian Issues. She has formerly, alongside other posts, served as Ambassador of the Germany to Ireland.
SIMONNET Patrick has been appointed as the EU Ambassador to Yemen. He is currently serving as the EU Special Envoy for the Mediterranean. He has previously, among other roles, held the positions of EU Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
LIBORIUS Soren has been appointed as the Deputy Head of Delegation to Russia. He is currently serving in the Division for Strategic Communications and Foresight in the EEAS. He has formerly, among other posts, served as the Head of Press and Information Section in the EU delegation to the Russian Federation.
NAVICKAS Gediminas has been appointed as the Deputy Head of Delegation to Ukraine. He has previously served as Head of the Policy Coordination Division and Head of the EEAS Secretary General’s Office.
