The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) in partnership with the European Union (EU), will be hosting the Pacific–European Union Waste Management Programme (PacWaste Plus) Inception Meeting in Nadi, Fiji from 27 to 29 May.

At a time when human rights are challenged on a daily basis with many attempts to undermine the universality and indivisibility of human rights, the EU has remained at the forefront of the protection and promotion of human rights and democracy, be it in international forums, bilaterally with governments or through concrete support to the civil society.

Tax evasion and avoidance affect us all. They eat away at public revenues, disrupt the level playing field for businesses and undermine the basic concept of fairness in our societies. That is why the EU has made fair taxation and the fight against tax abuse a top political priority over the past few years.
