Title

Building Skills for Unemployed and Underemployed Labour- B-SkillFUL

The project contributes to establishing a skills development system that supports the supply of skilled workers in the small, micro and cottage industries and improve their labour rights and decent work (LRDW) conditions. As a result from the project 32 Training Service Providers (TSPs) provided demand driven skills trainings to 41,427 people. In addition, 3,339 enterprises were sensitized on LRDW issues and 1 cell was established within Informal Sector Industry Skills Council (IS-ISC) to promote LRDW issues among informal enterprises.

Objectives

Outcome (Specific Objectives) and Outputs (Expected results)

 

Overall objective: to reduce poverty by promoting sustainable pro-poor growth & income opportunities for disadvantaged groups.

Specific objective: 1) To ensure access to short market-oriented training, after training support and employment for disadvantaged women and men. 2) To integrate Labour Rights and Decent Work (LRDW) into training and employment, informing trained graduates and enterprises about LRDW in the workplace. 3) To support development of local small, micro & cottage enterprises with better skilled workforce.

Expected results:

1. At least 70% of the targeted disadvantaged women and men have gainful wage or self-employment in local small, micro & cottage enterprises.

2. About 40 Training Service Providers (TSPs) and 2,500 small, micro & cottage enterprises provide relevant and inclusive training, including social issues and LRDW, and employment.

3. At least 50% local small, micro & cottage enterprises and workers are aware of and willing to integrate labour rights in their business models/operations.

Target group(s)

i) 55,000 disadvantaged women and men from 9 districts across Bangladesh. ii) 40 (estimated) TSPs in the selected districts. iii) Informal Sector Industry Skills Council (IS-ISC)

Final beneficiaries

2,500 Local small, micro & cottage enterprises, 10 Financial Institutions (FIs), Government of Bangladesh (GoB).

41,427 people (53% women and 47% men) received demand driven skills training, of whom 32,917 were employed.
