Adjai has been trained as a volunteer by the Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+) Mangrove Rehabilitation project in Suriname to learn how to plant those trees.Mangrove forests cover a considerable area in Suriname and are an important for maintaining biodiversity and storing carbon. Those ecosystems are among the most productive on earth, supporting globally significant biodiversity and providing resources and environmental services that underpin economic activities and ensure the environmental integrity of coastal areas. Moreover, those plants play an important role in increasing the resilience of coastal ecosystems, communities and economic activities towards climate change.
