Call for Participation: Masterclass for oneM2M Developers and Smart City Hackathon, 9-10 January 2020

Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited (IPSCDL) calls for participation from application developers and students for a Masterclass and Hackathon to develop ‘Smart Solutions’ using open source implementation of oneM2M, scheduled to be held between 9-10 January 2020 at BITS Pilani K K Birla Goa Campus. The aim of the event is to use data, information and the innovative application of technologies to ensure better infrastructure and urban services leading to an improvement in the quality of life of citizens.

 

The event is a collaborative endeavor of IPSCDL with the EU through its India-EU ICT Standardisation Collaboration Project; BITS Pilani KK Birla Goa; and The Institution of Engineers (India), Goa.

 

The themes of the hackathon include water; air quality and pollution monitoring; transportation and mobility; climate change and disaster management; and energy efficiency in smart buildings. The Masterclass will be conducted by a team of professors from the University of Toulouse, France enabling technology developers and students to build standards compliant applications for the Internet of Things.

 

Several hundred teams from across the country have participated in previous editions of the Hackathon held in Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Pune.

 

Benoit Sauveroche, first counsellor at the Delegation of the European Union to India stated: "The Internet of Things represents a tremendous potential for generating powerful innovative solutions and addressing the environmental challenges that our cities are facing. In order to reap this potential, we need bright people and a conducive environment, avoiding fragmentation of the world of the Internet of Things. This is why India and the European Union are joining forces to promote international standards such as OneM2M. The hackathon gives young innovators the opportunity to materialise their concepts within this global standard for interoperability."

The winning team shall get a fully paid trip funded by the European Union to attend a leading startup event in Europe.
