The State of the Union 2017: Catching the wind in our sails
European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker delivered today his 2017 State of the Union Address before the Members of the European Parliament in Strasbourg. He presented his priorities for the year ahead and outlined his vision for how the European Union could evolve by 2025.
The 2017 OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) brought together Ministers and top-level government officials from 50 member and partner countries to discuss ways to make globalisation work for all. The European Union (EU) was represented by the EU Commissioner for Trade, Mrs. Cecilia Malmström and the EU Commissioner for Financial and Economic Affairs, Mr. Pierre Moscovici.
Social protection experts from the government of Kyrgyzstan, development partners and civil society gathered in Bishkek on 23 November to take part in a workshop arranged by the European Union Social Protection Systems programme (EU-SPS).
The death penalty is incompatible with human dignity. It's inhumane and degrading treatment. It has no proven deterrent, allowing irreversible and fatal judicial errors. All of the EU has proudly abolished the death penalty.
