Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Ukraine?

What we offer?

A traineeship of 5 months within the Economic / Energy Section of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, starting in September 2020, subject to the local legislation as well as the national legislation of the candidate(s) if non-resident.

Economic / Energy Section of the Delegation of the EU in Ukraine is in charge of managing projects as well as monitoring and accompanying the developments in the area of economic cooperation, energy, environment, transport and infrastructure, climate action.

Main tasks:

  • Analysis of legislation and legal texts in the above areas, notably energy /energy efficiency as well as competition;
  • Data gathering and analysis of economic and energy indicators in the country;
  • Support to compilation of reports and briefings;
  • Participation in internal and external meetings/events, reporting;
  • Organisation of meetings/events;
  • Assist the work of the Section as required.

Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in political science, economics or related field;
  • Completed or ongoing master studies;
  • Very good command of spoken and written English;
  • Very good analytical skills;
  • Proven interest for EU affairs, neighborhood policies and energy/energy efficiency policies;
  • Proven networking and writing skills;
  • Capacity to work in team with attention to details.
  • Very good command of Word, Powerpoint, Excel
  • Good command of Ukrainian and/or Russian language;
  • Experience in EU energy/energy efficiency legislation or project management;
  • Knowledge of Ukraine's institutional system and political landscape;

Important information

Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship)

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travel inside the country of residence, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidate is not able to present the required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
