Launch of Europe Week 2019 – Official Opening of the New "Europe House" Premises

Europe House, Rruga Papa Gjon Pali II, Tirana

Opening of the new premises of Europe House and presentation of the Europe Week 2019 programme by EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca, in the presence of Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj. The results of a survey on Albanians' perception of the European Union will also be revealed. Opening of the photo exhibition "The EU, Albania and me!" from young Albanians on the theme of the relationship between Albania and the EU. Prizes will be given to the best three pictures during the opening of the EU village on Friday, 10 May.

Conference by Dr. Zemaida Kastrati Mozali at the Faculty of Languages of the University of Shkodra. Part of a series of conferences "Cittadini d'Europa" taking place between 3-17 May 2019 at the Universities of Shkodra and Tirana. The event is organised in cooperation with the Italian Embassy.

A dialogue with representatives of the EU Delegation, EU Member States and Civil Society Organisations on Albania's integration into the EU taking place in schools throughout the country. A special emphasis will be given to discussing the inclusion of young people in the EU integration process. The series of discussions is organised in cooperation with EU Member States Embassies and the EU-funded project "Municipalities for Europe".

Improving Educational Opportunities for Deaf Children in Albania

A conference where the results of the survey "Deaf People in Albania" will be presented and discussed. Representatives of the Hellenic Federation of the Deaf will present best practices and how cooperation between Member States and Albania could improve educational opportunities for deaf children. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition of the painter Kostas Ziongas. The Conference is organised in cooperation with the Greek Embassy.

The Big EU Quiz! How Well Do You Know the European Union?

Teams of young people are invited to compete over a series of questions on the EU and its Member States in the format of a traditional Pub Quiz. The event is organised in cooperation with the Faculty of law of the University of Durrës.

Triptych for Peace – The History of the European Union

Open Air Theatre, Tirana

A concert of G. Verdi, S. Barber and L.V.Beethoven on the symbolism, values and philosophy of the European Union. Joint performance by the Albanian Radio Television Orchestra, the University of Arts of Tirana, the Fier Philharmonic Artists, the Philharmonic of Pristina and the Choir of Thessaloniki.

What Is the EU to Me? A Dialogue Between French and Albanian Students of Journalism

Faculty of Journalism, University of Elbasan

A discussion between Albanian and French students of journalism (Centre Universitaire d’Enseignement du Journalisme of the University of Strasbourg) on their views about the European Union and how it is discussed in the media. When youth from a founding Member State of the EU meet those of a candidate country! The students will summarise their conclusions in a short video. This event is organised in cooperation with the French Embassy.

An exchange of views between EU Ambassadors and young Albanians on young people's hopes, activism and public engagement. This event is part of the structured dialogue that the EU Delegation has put in place with youth organisations to ensure that the voice of young Albanians is heard in the EU integration process.

The 9 May reception will be held at the Palace of Brigades with a musical programme dedicated to the power of youth: Anthems by the students of the Artistic Lyceum, musical entertainment by the students of the Tirana University of Arts. And a concert by Elina Duni.

Europe Week High School Volleyball Tournament – Day 1!

A competition of mixed volleyball teams bringing together participants from Durrës, Elbasan, Rrëshen, Lushnja and Tirana. Organised in cooperation with the Albanian Volleyball Federation.

Group-phase matches will be held all day on Friday, 10 May.

A conference organised by the Institute for European Studies of the University of Tirana following a call for student papers on the topic “"Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions" - Their Impact on Gender Equality”. The conference will present the results though a panel of experts, as well as the publication of the best papers. The conference is organised in cooperation with the Dutch Embassy.

A whole afternoon of entertainment and information dedicated to Europe. In numerous stands, EU Member States will present their countries and their activities in Albania, and the EU Delegation will showcase the diversity of its support for the country's development. The EU Village 2019 will be focused on Youth Activism, Social Business, Volunteering, Education and Youth Inter-Cultural Exchanges.

12:00-12:30    Opening of the EU village by EU Ambassador Luigi Soreca and Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj. The opening will be followed by traditional Romanian dances, a courtesy of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
