The members of the European Council and the Member States of the G5 Sahel, through the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission on the one hand, and the Presidents of the G5 Sahel countries on the other hand, have decided to adopt this declaration in order to reaffirm their joint commitment to the security, stability and development of the Sahel.

The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) deployed today 20 short-term observers. They joined the 14 long-term observers, who have been observing electoral preparations and the campaign across the 10 regions since 4 February.
The short-term observers will cover on election day all 10 regions, observing in both urban and rural areas. They will be the eyes and the ears of the mission during polling, counting and tabulation of results.
EU Election Observation Missions are a highly visible demonstration of the EU's commitment to supporting democratisation and promoting respect for human rights across the world. The new database will make it easier to find out and learn more about these missions.
Following an invitation by the Bolivian authorities, the European Union will deploy an Election Observation Mission (EOM) in the country to observe the first round of Presidential elections and legislative elections on 3 May. The EOM wouldalso observe a possible second round of presidential elections on 14 June.
Josep Borrell, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, has consulted the European Parliament and appointed its Member Ms. Isabel Santos, as Chief Observer of this Election Observation Mission.
