The European Union Election Observation Mission – Paraguay 2018 will donate computer equipment, office furniture and medical kits to eleven Paraguayan institutions worth about 770 million guaraníes. These equipments have been utilized by the Mission throughout its stay in Paraguay on the occasion of the observation of the general elections on April 22.

The beneficiary organizations are the Educational and Community Support Base (BECA), the Child and Adolescent Rights Coordination (CDIA), Fe y Alegría, the National Coordinator of Rural Women and Indigenous Women's Organizations (CONAMURI), the Center of Mutual Health for All (CAMSAT), the Association of Indigenous Women of the Community Esperanza (AMICE), the Coordination of Leaders of the Bajo Chacho (CLIBCH), the Union of Indigenous Communities of the Yshir Nation (UCYNI), the Volunteer Firemen of Areguá, the School No. 2.489 Professor Benefrida T. de Becker (Canindeyú) and the Hospital de Clinicas of San Lorenzo.

The European Union Election Observation Mission – Paraguay 2018 and the Delegation of the European Union in Paraguay hope that the donations will contribute to improving the performance of the activities that these organizations carry out in their different fields of action.

On the occasion of the protocolary act of the signature of donations, the Ambassador of the European Union to Paraguay, Paolo Berizzi, said: “through larger projects and small gestures, the European Union continues to support civil society organizations that are in the battlefront in fighting against poverty, inequality and in the defense of human rights and democracy”.

The European Union Election Observation Mission – Paraguay 2018 arrived in the country on 13 March and observed the Election day with more than 90 observers. A delegation will return to Paraguay in June to present the final report with recommendations for future elections.
