European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP)
Through its European Neighbourhood Policy (ENP), which has been revised in November 2015, the EU works with its Southern and Eastern Neighbours to foster stabilisation, security and prosperity, in line with the Global Strategy for the European Union's Foreign and Security Policy.
The 5th Eastern Partnership Summit took place today in Brussels. The leaders of all 28 Member States - together with Presidents Donald Tusk and Jean-Claude Juncker as well as EU High Representative Federica Mogherini - participated in the Summit with the six Eastern Partnership countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Republic of Moldova and Ukraine. At the Summit, leaders took stock of progress made since the Riga Summit in 2015, with a focus on the tangible impact the partnership brings to eastern partner citizens.
The EU is strongly committed to supporting the sustainable development of our partner countries in the Eastern neighbourhood.
Today, Estonian Presidency of the Council of the European Union will host a conference aimed at developing e-governance and enhancing cybersecurity in the EU's Eastern partner countries. This will be followed by the second Eastern Partnership Ministerial meeting on the digital economy, on 5 October 2017 and the EU's Ministerial e-Government Conference the day after.
Following the adoption by the European Parliament and the Council, the European Commission immediately starts the implementation of its ambitious External Investment Plan to boost investments in Africa and the EU Neighbourhood.
The EU wants to keep all local, regional and international partners engaged in finding a viable solution for Israel and Palestine, EU High Representative Mogherini said in New York.
