High Representative/Vice President Federica Mogherini today addressed the second annual Southern Mediterranean Civil Society Forum, held in Brussels on 28-29 May. The objective of the Forum is to create mechanisms for a sustained and structured dialogue between civil society, the authorities and the EU at a regional level.

The European Union and Tunisia are united in solidarity and partnership following the terrorist attacks in Tunisia’s Bardo Museum. High Representative/ Vice President Federica Mogherini declared “it is the EU’s responsibility to accompany the construction of a strong Tunisian democracy, guaranteeing security, economic development and social progress for all Tunisians. Tunisia can count on the EU.”

Federica Mogherini focused her first hundred days in office on Europe's key priorities for foreign and security policy, both at home in Europe and around the globe.

The renewed intensification, in spite of the ceasefire in place, of shooting and shelling in eastern Ukraine led today to the tragic death of ten civilians when a bus was hit by a shell.

Our thoughts are with the families of those who died. This underlines the need for strict observation of the ceasefire protocol of 5 September and implementing memorandum of 19 September.
