Eastern Partnership Panel Meeting on Migration, Mobility and Integrated Border Management

Fifty representatives from the European Union, the Eastern Partnership countries, the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, and international organizations, gathered in Odessa for a Panel Meeting on Migration, Mobility and Integrated Border Management.

The Eastern Partnership Panel Meeting on Migration, Mobility and Integrated Border Management was hosted in Odessa by Ukraine, on 27-28 September 2018.

The event gathered fifty representatives from the European Union, the Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine), the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, and international organizations.

Discussions focused on challenges and recent developments in the field of Integrated Border Management, both in the EU and the EaP countries, and addressed cooperation on border surveillance and customs. Partners stressed the importance of cooperation at all levels for efficient Integrated Border Management, and reflected on the modalities of continued EU support in this area.

A field visit to Kuchurgan-Pervomaisk border control site gave participants an insight on the practical organization of effective interagency and international cooperation and coordination between the border guards and customs authorities of Ukraine and Moldova.

The event was organized jointly by the EU, the International Organization for Migration, and Ukraine, under the framework of the Eastern Partnership' Platform 4 on "Mobility and People to People Contacts".
