To mark National Bicycle Day, the Delegation of the European Union, the Embassy of Germany, Intramuros Administration, Bikers United Movement and Bike in the Philippines, have collaborated to strengthen the shared cycling culture of the Philippines and the European Union.
Cycling in the Philippines has emerged as an alternative mode of transport, as more and more Filipinos realize its immediate benefits for their health, their budget and the environment, among others.
With RideSafe Pilipinas, the EU Delegation joins the Philippine Government in its effort to promote cycling as an active and environmentally friendly means of transport whilst it strives to make the country conducive to biking.
Mindful that safety on the road is essential for building a cycling community, the EU Delegation and the Embassy of Germany, with valuable Philippine partners, will be conducting RideSafe Pilipinas, a series of FREE bike safety clinics on 28 November 2021, 7am to 10 am at Plaza Moriones, Fort Santiago, Intramuros in Manila. At the same time, the EU Delegation will hand-over bicycle racks to the Intramuros Administration.
To all NEWBIES: bikes and helmets will be lent out for a 2km. ride around Fort Santiago. Register here https://forms.gle/vGKYXAak2ewcZ5EQA
To all BIKE COMMUTERS: Apart from safety tips, expect also bike maintenance pointers, bike lane markings and road courtesy. Sign up here https://forms.gle/f7hHzFsz1StTYh8t7 to reserve your slots

The bike safety clinics will provide a platform for bikers to learn important safety measures, including guidance on how to navigate safely the roads from known cycling experts.
With these initiatives, the EU Delegation recognizes the contribution of cycling to more livable cities and to halting global warming. The transportation sector contributes significantly to climate change, with 14% of total global greenhouse gas emissions. It is the fourth largest contributing sector after Electricity, Agriculture and Industry.
