04.11.2019

The Integrated Approaches for Climate Change Adaptation in the East Usambara Mountains is one of five projects, which falls under the EU funded Global Climate Change Alliance (GCCA). The project encompassed the eco-village approach, and aims to increase and diversify incomes, strengthen resilience and reduce vulnerability to climate change.

The project targeted eight communities located near high biodiversity forests in the East Usambara Mountains and depend on the ecosystem for their livelihoods, which are increasingly becoming threatened due to climate change.

The Integrated Approaches for Climate Change Adaptation in the East Usambara Mountains project contributed to Tanzania’s poverty reduction strategy and improving the livelihoods of communities. Theproject activities are also aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 13 (SDG 13) – CLIMATE ACTION.
