Title:

 Protection and empowerment of Rohingya Refugees in Bangladesh

Bangladesh hosts the largest population of stateless refugees in the world, the Rohingya. Three years after their influx from Myanmar, service-delivery in the camps has improved and the response to the new population is largely consolidated. However, the conditions for Rohingya refugees and their host communities remain extremely challenging. The project aims to continue its efforts strengthen the resilience of Rohingya refugees and their host communities in Cox’s Bazar District in coordination with Inter Sector Coordination Group (ISCG). The project has also specific activities that will address health and economic challenges caused by COVID19.

Locations

All Rohingya refugee settlements situated in Ukhiya and Teknaf Upazila, and affected host communities in Rajaplong, Palongkhali, Jaliapalong, Ratnaplaong Unions in Ukhiya Upazila and Hnila, Whykhong, Baharchara, Sabrang and Teknaf Sadarin Teknaf Upazilla inCo x’s Bazar, Bangladesh.

Overall objective:

Contribute to strengthening the resilience of Rohingya refugees and their host communities in Cox’s Bazar District of Bangladesh.

Specific objective(s):

- To enhance protection and empowerment of refugees and host communities

- To strengthened assistance for the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and response to the socio-economic impact of the crisis.

Expected results:

  • Increased opportunities for involvement of refugees in camp management and coordination
  • Enhanced access to civil registration and status documentation.
  • Strengthened assistance for the prevention of the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and response to the socio-economic impact of the crisis through livelihood support
