Sector Prioritisation Study (SPS) for FDI Attraction into Indonesia

This Sector Prioritisation Study (SPS) has been developed by ARISE+ Indonesia with the aim of supporting the analytical works of the Indonesian Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) for the development of a five-year strategy which in turn will contribute to the broader National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024.

The SPS was developed in 2019 in collaboration with BKPM’s Investment Planning Division and the Trade, Investment and International Economic Cooperation Division of the Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS).

The SPS has been designed to assess and classify a broad set of 16 sectors from two key angles:

  • the benefits that Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in those sectors can bring to Indonesia, and
  • the attractiveness of Indonesia’s sectoral offerings to investors.

Beyond prioritising and classifying the 16 sectors, the SPS also provides a series of both overarching and sector-specific observations, implications and recommendations for BKPM, BAPPENAS and other key entities within the Government of Indonesia to consider.
