The Long-Term Observers (LTOs) of the European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) to Zambia arrived in Lusaka to begin their three days of preparations before being deployed to the provinces of the country.

The 24 observers were welcomed in Zambia by the EU EOM’s Core Team, a group of election experts who have been in Lusaka since the end of June to set up and coordinate the election observation mission. The observers will be deployed to all provinces in teams of two, and will observe all aspects of the election process, including the election preparations, the campaign activities and the conduct of the media.

The LTOs arrived from 23 EU member states as well as from Norway. They will be deployed to their Areas of Responsibility on Friday morning, 15 July, from the EU EOM’s headquarters at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka.
