Overview:
The overall objective is to increase Trinidad and Tobago's resilience to climate change by introducing renewable energy as an energy source for electricity generation, thereby contributing to energy security while reducing the use of fossil fuel-based electricity both environmentally and economically. This will successfully contribute to Trinidad and Tobago commitment to the National Determined Contribution (NDC) to reduce its carbon emissions by 15% through the year 2030.
In this project, ground-mounted solar panels will be installed at location 4 identified in the feasibility study, which is close to an existing car park, over an area of 1.54 ha with a minimum annual generation capacity of 1,443,830 kWh and the potential to avoid annually an emission of 1,010 metric tonnes CO2.
Objective
To increase the availability and use of energy from renewable sources, to decrease the emissions of CO2 from the use of fossil fuels and raise public awareness on energy efficiency, correct pricing of energy and benefits of using renewable energy.
