On June 14 at the Montevideo World Trade Center Auditorium, the EU Delegation organized a discussion with the EU Ambassador and his colleagues from the Member States to analyze and discuss the results of the 2019 European parliamentary elections.
The discussion panel was composed of European Union Ambassador Karl-Otto König, German Ambassador Ingo Von Voss, French Ambassador Hugues Moret, Italian Ambassador Gianni Piccato, Spanish Ambassador José Javier Gómez-Llera y García-Nava, Portuguese Ambassador Nuno De Mello Bello, and Oscar Bottinelli, Director of the Center for Social and Political Research FACTUM. The panel was moderated by Rosario Collazo, Coordinator General of the Astur Foundation.
The event was well attended by national and local authorities, the diplomatic corps, members of international organizations and Uruguayan civil society.
The event was opened by Ambassador König, who presented the discussion topic. Next, the political scientist Bottinelli broadly analyzed the election results, underlining possible alliances and what they may mean for EU-Uruguay relations.
After these interventions, the actual discussion began, in which Ambassador König and the Member States Ambassadors gave their perspectives on the elections and the different nuances that results imply in the different Member States.
The event concluded with a round of questions from the audience, which were answered by the Ambassadors.
