The EU mission met with H.E Prime Minister Maeen Abdulmalek Saeed, the newly appointed Governor of the Central Bank of Yemen and participated to the workshop promoted and chaired by the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation on the priorities for Reconstruction and Economic Recovery, with a focus on livelihood challenges.
The EU mission also met with representatives of civil society, the Abductee mothers' Association and INGOs to hear about the multiple challenges that these actors are facing on a daily basis. They also visited the National and the Military Museums, which are being rehabilitated by UNESCO as part of an EU-funded project.
Yemen and Yemenis are paying the highest price of this extremely violent war. The regular EU missions to Yemen are a visible sign of the wish of the EU to lend all its support to the efforts of those who are engaged in alleviating the suffering of Yemenis and encouraging all the parties to the conflict to refrain from using violence, push for peace and sustainable political solutions. At this time, the EU reiterates its firm belief that there is no military solution to this conflict and continues to support the efforts of the UN Special Envoy Martin Griffiths in the implementation of the Stockholm Agreement.
