We offer a post of Policy Officer in the Delegation's Trade Section in Wellinton, New Zealand. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Policy officer – Trade Affairs Officer. The successful candidate will carry out the Delegation's work mostly on trade and investment matters but also on other Union policies most notably in the following fields: agriculture, sanitary and phytosanitary, climate change, and science and innovation. S/he will work in close consultation with the Head of Trade Section.

Success in this role will hinge on the candidate's ability to demonstrate particularly strong analytical, advocacy and relationship building skills. The candidate must be able to demonstrate a good knowledge in fields related to European Union trade policies as well as in New Zealand's economic and trade fields and the wider region. Knowledge of the EU policies in other than trade fields in particular agriculture, climate and science and innovation is an advantage.
A self-motivated person is sought with a minimum of four years proven experience in one or more of the following fields: political and economic analysis, law and/or trade policy; with a university degree in a related field (additional degrees on science and technology policy, environment policy and/or education policy being an asset), the ability to report accurately and concisely within deadlines, and interpersonal skills of a high order. Proven knowledge of the EU and established contacts with New Zealand government and industry sectors are essential.
