11/04/2021 - HR/VP Blog – The world is horrified by the bloody military coup in Myanmar, with reports of more than 80 people killed in Bago last Friday. We are pursuing a robust diplomatic initiative in close coordination with like-minded partners. However, geopolitical competition in Myanmar makes it difficult to find common ground, to halt the violence and ensure a return to democracy.

One year ago today, the European Commission and the High Representative set out plans for a targeted EU response to support partner countries' efforts in tackling the Coronavirus pandemic combining resources from the EU, its Member States and European financial institutions, as ‘Team Europe'. By 1 January 2021, Team Europe had already supported partner countries around the world with more than €26 billion, 65% of the overall response package that now stands at over €40 billion and exceeding the original €20 billion pledged.

April 1, 2021 marks an important milestone in Vietnam’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, as the country received the first batch of free vaccines under COVAX, a global programme supported by the European Union aimed at providing innovative and equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines. This is the most outstanding symbol of EU and Vietnam solidarity in the face of the COVID-19 challenge and the race to vaccinate the whole world.

03/04/2021 – Blog du HR/VP — La situation humanitaire dans la région éthiopienne du Tigré reste très préoccupante. Ce conflit menace également de déstabiliser l’ensemble de la Corne de l’Afrique. J’ai demandé à Pekka Haavisto, ministre finlandais des affaires étrangères, de se rendre en Éthiopie pour réitérer nos demandes au gouvernement et évaluer la situation. Il est hautement prioritaire pour l’UE de contribuer à mettre un terme aux violations des droits de l’homme dans la région du Tigré et à rétablir la paix en Éthiopie.


03/04/2021 – HR/VP Blog - The humanitarian situation in the Ethiopian Tigray region remains very serious. This conflict threatens also to destabilise the whole Horn of Africa. I have asked Pekka Haavisto, Finnish Minister of Foreign Affairs, to travel to Ethiopia to repeat our requests to the government and assess the situation. For the EU, helping to stop the human right abuses in the Tigray region and restore peace in Ethiopia is a high priority.


30/03/2021 – HR/VP Blog – Last week, the European Council opened what should be a new chapter in EU-Turkey relations. EU leaders are ready to engage on important avenues of cooperation including the modernisation of the Customs Union, the relaunching of high-level dialogues and people-to-people contacts, plus strengthened cooperation on migration management.

30/03/2021 – Blog du HR/VP – La semaine dernière, le Conseil européen a ouvert ce qui pourrait être un nouveau chapitre des relations entre l’UE et la Turquie. Les dirigeants de l’UE sont prêts à entamer des discussions concernant des axes de coopération importants, dont la modernisation de l’union douanière, la relance des dialogues à haut niveau et des contacts interpersonnels, ainsi que le renforcement de la coopération en matière de gestion des migrations.

30/03/2021 – Blogue do AR/VP – Na semana passada, o Conselho Europeu deu início ao que poderá ser um novo capítulo nas relações entre a UE e a Turquia. Os líderes da UE estão dispostos a abrir vias de cooperação importantes, como a modernização da União Aduaneira, o relançamento dos diálogos de alto nível e dos contactos interpessoais, bem como o reforço da cooperação em matéria de gestão da migração.

I leader dell'UE sono pronti ad avviare importanti percorsi di cooperazione, tra cui la modernizzazione dell'unione doganale, il rilancio dei dialoghi ad alto livello e dei contatti interpersonali, nonché una cooperazione rafforzata in materia di gestione della migrazione.
