EUCAP Sahel Niger: new pilot project to fight road bandits in country's northern region

04.12.2019

Increasing attacks by groups of bandits along the main routes through Niger’s northern Agadez region threaten the security of travellers and jeopardize safe transport and commerce.

In response to these spreading crimes, EUCAP Sahel Niger has launched a pilot project designed to strengthen the capacities of the Nigerien partners and aiming at better securing the area, and eventually intervene and prosecute the criminals.

Led by EUCAP’s Field Office in Agadez, the Mission will support the internal security forces through strategic advising in view of the preparation, implementation and follow-up of their joint actions. In addition, the Mission will provide equipment and fuel support to increase the mobility of its partners.
