The Uzbekkino National Agency together with the Delegation of the European Union in Uzbekistan with the support of the Karakalpakkino Agency announced the holding of the VII European Film Festival in Nukus from October 24 to 26.

The opening of the festival took place on October 24, together with the celebration of UN Day in the Karakalpak State Theater for Young Spectators. The festival was opened by Peter Burian, Special Representative of the European Union for Central Asia, who noted that "the European Union is a global leader in promoting and solving environmental problems, sustainable development - critical factors for future generations."

The festival was launched by showing a documentary: “Kokota: An Island of Hope,” which demonstrates the challenges of climate change faced by a small community in Africa. Despite the local nature of the problem, Karina demonstrates the challenges of the global level to which all the peoples of the world are exposed. At the same time, with the active support of the community and with the use of innovations, these problems can be solved, which gives hope to the heroes and spectators of the film.

In addition, the Latvian documentary director Dainis Klava also took part in the VII European Film Festival, conducting a master class for 50 students of the branch of the Institute of Arts and Culture in Nukus on the features of documentary film production in Latvia on the theme "Documentary Cinema as an Art".

Open film screenings for all comers will be held on October 25 and 26 at the Karakalpak State Theater for Young Spectators. Within the framework of the festival, 6 films by well-known European directors will be presented, among which are films-winners of international film festivals and owners of prestigious international awards.
