Erasmus+ Information Day in Uzbekistan

Today, November 24, 2016 ‘Information Day’ of the Erasmus+ Programme has started its work at the Tashkent State University of Economics. The event is jointly organized by the National Erasmus + Office (NEO) in Uzbekistan with the Ministry of Higher and Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan, National Team of Experts and the Tashkent State University of Economics.

Today, November 24, 2016 ‘Information Day’ of the Erasmus+ Programme has started its work at the Tashkent State University of Economics. The event is jointly organized by the National Erasmus + Office (NEO) in Uzbekistan  with the Ministry of Higher and Specialized Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Uzbekistan, National Team of Experts and the Tashkent State University of Economics.

More than 200 representatives of the teaching and administrative staff of all higher education institutions of the republic, sectoral ministries, non-academic institutions, organizations and production associations interested in the development of higher education, coordinators and members of the Tempus and Erasmus + project teams were attending the event.

The Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Uzbekistan Mr. Eduards Stiprais dueing his opening speech pointed out: "European Union has been providing support to Uzbekistan's education reform process since 1994 when the first Tempus Tacis projects started in Samarkand and Bukhara. A lot has been done over these years.  More than 80 Tempus projects with the total budget over 32 million euro and 25 Erasmus+ projects with total budget of 9 million euro have provided considerable support to the overall modernisation process of higher  education system of Uzbekistan. For 2018 Call in total 8.8 million euro is allocated for Capacity Building in Higher Education projects for Central Asia. I believe that today will be very informative for you and will facilitate exchange of experience and ideas between experienced in Tempus and Erasmus+ representatives of higher education institutions and newcomers from faculties with less and no experience in both programmes".

What is Erasmus+?

Erasmus+ is the EU's programme to support education, training, youth and sport in Europe. Its budget of €14.7 billion will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer abroad.

Set to last until 2020, Erasmus+ doesn't just have opportunities for students. Merging seven prior programmes, it has opportunities for a wide variety of individuals and organisations.
