Ambassador Stavros Lambrinidis presented his credentials to U.S. President Donald Trump at a White House ceremony, formally assuming the role of European Union Ambassador to the United States.
"There is no deeper and stronger alliance than the transatlantic partnership," he wrote in his accompanying note to President Trump. As a global actor and a true partner for the United States, "a strong and united Europe is a guarantor of U.S. security and prosperity as well."
Ambassador Lambrinidis represents the Presidents of the European Commission and the European Council, under the authority of the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy. He is a Greek national, who previously served as European Union Special Representative for Human Rights, Foreign Affairs Minister of Greece, and Vice President of the European Parliament.
