Experience the best of European culture without the jet lag!

The European Month of Culture (EUMoC) brings the best of European culture to Washington, DC during the entire month of May – including the flagship EU Open House (May 12), when the 28 European Union embassies and the European Union Delegation open their doors to the public.

This May bursts with new offerings! Highlighting the EU's proclamation of 2018 as the European Year of Cultural Heritage, the EU Delegation will offer a Virtual Reality experience on May 23 with the "EUseum" – Europe's first virtual-only museum – along with a dynamic panel discussion on how the digital world is preserving cultural heritage. Also new on the scene is EUROBEATS, a series of music showcases and films covering all genres of European music. Meanwhile, visit the International Trade Center's Farmers Market on May 18 to discover World Bee Day and get a taste of some of the latest European environmental programs – or head to the Portuguese Embassy on the evening of May 12 to watch the finals of the Eurovision song competition, broadcast live from Lisbon.

Concerts big and small; exhibitions on history and art; conversations with actors, authors, directors – EUMoC offers everything from fashion to jazz, literary evenings to cutting-edge European films, music, photography, lectures, workshops, and more. Most events are free, presented by the 28 European Union Member States, the EU Delegation to the United States and many partners including the Library of Congress, National Gallery of Art, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and the Folger Shakespeare Library.

You normally have to cross the Atlantic to experience Europe – but on May 12, you just have to cross the street! The annual European Union Open House offers visitors a rare look inside the EU Member State embassies and the opportunity to experience diverse cultural and national traditions from across the EU.

New to EU Open House and EUMoC this year is the #EUPix competition, where attendees can post a photo of themselves at any EU Open House or Month of Culture event for a chance to win a big prize: a swag bag filled with gifts from the EU embassies! Use the hashtag #EUPix on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram to be entered automatically; winners will be announced on June 4th.
