In 2017, EU's Earth Observation program Copernicus helped the U.S. predict and respond to hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria. Thanks to a recent EU-U.S. cooperation agreement, American first responders were able to receive satellite imagery and emergency mapping from the EU in a matter of hours.
EU-U.S. space cooperation goes beyond Earth observation and weather forecasts—it also extends into satellite navigation, space space surveillan and tracking, and space exploration.
