HR/VP Kaja Kallas' visit to London

HR/VP Kaja Kallas’ first official visit to London, on 18th March, underscored the importance of a strengthened EU-UK cooperation on security and defence, with a focus on sustained support for Ukraine.

During her visit to London, HR/VP Kallas held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Secretary David Lammy, where they explored ways to strengthen European security. Their joint op-ed reinforced the message that supporting Ukraine remains unwavering and that closer EU-UK collaboration is essential for lasting peace:

“European security is indivisible. The UK may no longer be a member of the EU, but when it comes to keeping our continent safe, Europe cannot afford to be less than the sum of our parts […] In a world on fire, a new era in security and defence co-operation between the EU and UK is essential to keep our countries and people safe”, Mr Lammy and Ms Kallas wrote.
