HR/VP Federica Mogherini and UAE Minister of State Dr Sultan Al Jaber Officially Inaugurate the EU Delegation to the UAE

The European Union Delegation to the UAE was officially inaugurated by H.E Dr Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of State, Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Media Council and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini, in her first official visit to the UAE.

The ceremony drew several high profile guests including the President of the Federal National Council, Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, Assistant Undersecretary-Protocol Affairs, H.E Shihab Al Faheem, and several officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and from other government organisations, Ambassadors of several countries including Canada, Argentina, Macedonia and EU Member States Ambassadors accredited to the country and several other officials from the Diplomatic corps.  

"The UAE is a country we work hand in hand with, on bilateral issues in an excellent manner. It’s the only Arab country that has a visa waiver regime with the European Union, a country with whom we have so much in common on so many different files, from energy and climate change to trade, culture relations. Looking forward to seeing the expo 2020 here in the country. We also have a common regional agenda. This is why, we indicate in our global strategy that we need to work together the Gulf countries, there are many challenges and opportunities we can both work on together. Let me add that you are a source of inspiration for having the first woman President of the Federal National Council.' – From the welcoming words of High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini.

The UAE is among the top ten destinations for EU exports. Furthermore, the UAE is home to more than 40.000 EU companies and 160.000 EU citizens. The UAE also hosts the embassies of 22 EU countries.
