Under the leadership of the London Chamber of Commerce, one of the largest delegation of companies from 6 European Union Member States visited the UAE from 4-7 September.

The purpose of the Mission was to engage with UAE officials from local governments and chambers of commerce in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah as well as to introduce new technologies, services and products from Belgium, Italy, Greece, Hungary, Lithuania and the UK.  The delegation comprised of 78 members and represented the first multi country Trade Mission under the EAGLE ONE project, partly funded by the EU’s European Authority for Small and Medium Enterprise.

Charge's d'Affaires a.i. Jean-Bernard Bolvin, gave a keynote speech on recent developments in political and trade relations between the EU and the UAE.

The meetings in Abu Dhabi and Dubai were very well attended with hundreds of individual B2B meetings set up by both chambers of commerce for the EU participants. As a result EU companies have now a better understanding of the UAE economy and the business opportunities which will translate into increased exchange of information, possible ties ups between EU and UAE companies and ultimately lead to better bilateral relations. The Trade volume between the EU and UAE reached 57,8 Bill EURO in 2015 making the EU one of the top three trading partners. EU exports to the UAE grew at 15% last year to reach 48,5 Bill EURO making the UAE, the ninth largest export destination for the EU worldwide.
