Statement by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini on the occasion of the International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide and of the Prevention of this Crime
21 November 2016 On the occasion of WORLD FISHERIES DAY, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to FAO hold an important event on “The violation of human rights within the fishing sector and illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing”.
The European Union and its Member States hold a strong and principled position against the death penalty, in all circumstances and for all cases. This position stems from the universal and fundamental right to life. It is also embedded in “human dignity” of every human being, even of someone who has committed the most atrocious crime.
The 4th Ministerial Meeting on Agriculture commodity markets and prices took place at FAO in Rome on 3 October 2016 followed by the 71st Session of the Committee on Commodity Problems (CCP 71) from 4 - 6 October 2016.
