Gathering at the Australian Embassy to the Holy See waiting to see the Fumata Bianca!

On the second day of the Conclave, where the 133 Cardinal electors were gathered to choose the new Pope, the Australian Embassy to the Holy See hosted a “conclave watch” event where everyone waited for a white or black smoke to merge from the Sistine Chapel.

The white smoke suddenly appeared announcing that the conclave had chosen the next Pope!

A few sea gulls were constantly monitoring the chimney of the Sistine Chapel growing much attention to themselves and a few laughs. They were even present minutes before the white smoke came out announcing that Robert Francis Prevost was named pope, taking the name of Leo XIV.
