EUROPE DAY – 9 May 2025

The Iter Europaeum itereuropaeum.eu/il-cammino of the EU Delegation in Rome connects 27 churches dedicated each to one of our EU Member States. The Ara Coeli, the church next to the place where the Treaties of Rome were signed on the Campidoglio in 1957, is therefore dedicated to the European Union. A good walk for all on a pilgrimage in this Holy Year #Jubilee or interested in Europe‘s rich cultural and religious heritage.
An enormous EU Flag spread across the Campidoglio terrace and the EU colours illuminated the Ara Coeli church. Piazza del Campidoglio was designed by Michelangelo and located at the top of Capitoline Hill and is also the seat of the city hall.
Thanks to the great efforts of the office in Rome of the European Parliament and of the European Commission for your great work in making the EU flag visible today at the heart of Rome!
