This morning, at the WFP in Rome, Ambassador Martin Selmayr expressed on behalf of the European Union the appreciation for the work of WFP‘s committed leadership and brave staff under increasingly challenging circumstances. Last week‘s visit of WFP Chief Cindy McCain to Kyiv and her strong messages to the Ukrainian people were very important, as is the hard humanitarian work of WFP in Gaza and Sudan. The EU is and remains committed to multilateralism with the UN at its heart, to effective diplomacy to end conflicts and wars and to international humanitarian law. A world without fear, hunger and inequality is a more important sustainable development goal than ever before.
