Ambassador Martin Selmayr meets the Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development of Colombia

Meeting on World Food Day at FAO with Martha Viviana Carvajalino Villegas together Ambassador Jhenifer María Mojica Flórez

The EU and Colombia are very important like-minded partners, as underlined by the EU’s comprehensive trade agreement with Colombia and Peru. Ambassador Martin Selmayr had a meeting on World Food Day at FAO with Martha Viviana Carvajalino Villegas, Colombia’s dynamic Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, together Ambassador Jhenifer María Mojica Flórez.

The importance of multilateralism was discussed, our common agenda at the Rome-based UN organisations, the upcoming 2025 EU-CELAC summit in Colombia and the main themes of the International Conference on Agricultural Reform to be held in Cartagena in February 2026.

As EU High Representative Kaja Kallas emphasised in her speech at the European Parliament in February 2025, "Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) is an indispensable partner in today’s world." Muchas gracias por el muy inspirador intercambio de ideas!
