Traineeships in Delegations The Delegation of the European Union in Rome, Italy offers paid traineeships to young graduates with a university diploma and less than one year of professional experience.

Traineeships in Delegations

The Delegation of the European Union in Rome, Italy offers paid traineeships to young graduates with a university diploma and less than one year of professional experience.

When applying, please specify for which internship you are applying for.

 

What we offer

Two types of paid traineeships are available:

 

Traineeship International Relations (1 Trainee for 5 months period)

  • Trainee will support the activities of the Delegation to be determined with their supervisor. Trainee will attend meetings and conferences, in particular at the 3 UN Agencies in Rome (FAO, IFAD and WFP), including coordination meetings with EU Member States.

  • Trainee will be asked to prepare for the meetings and draft reports.

  • Trainee will be asked to conduct thematic / geographic research and can be called to provide ad hoc support for all activities of the Delegation.

  • Trainee can be called to provide support on press and communication matters.

     

You may apply for the traineeship if:

  • You are a graduate with a second cycle University degree (Master of Science/Italian Laurea Magistrale)

  • You have less than 1 year of professional experience

  • You are a national of an EU Member State or a pre-accession State

  • You have no previous professional experience of more than 6 weeks in any of the EU institutions

     

     

    Administrative traineeship (1 Trainee for 5 months period)

     

    Trainees will carry out general administrative and secretarial work and mainly:

  • Provide support to the Head of Administration (HOA) for administrative matters;

  • Provide support to the Assistant of the Head of Delegation;

  • Provide support with the organization of events

 

You may apply for the traineeship if:

  • You are a graduate with a University diploma (at least Bachelor of Science degree/Italian Laurea Triennale)

  • You have less than 1 year of professional experience

  • You are a national of an EU Member State or a pre-accession State

  • You have no previous professional experience of more than 6 weeks in any of the EU institutions

 

What are the general rules?

Duration: the traineeship can be up to a maximum of five months

Monthly grant: selected trainees will receive a monthly grant of 1200€

Travel: trainees have to arrange and finance their travel to the EU Delegation in Rome

Accommodation: the trainees will have to cover their accommodation costs

Traineeship periods and the corresponding deadlines for applications:

 

Traineeship International Relations (5 months)

  • From 1 September to 31 January

    Application period: 1 May to 15 June

     

  • From 1 February to 30 June

    Application period: 1 October to 30 November

     

     Administrative traineeship (5 months)

  • Traineeship from 1 September to 31 January

    Application period: 1 May to 15 June

     

  • Traineeship from 1 March to 30 November

    Application period: 1 October to 30 November

     

    If selected for a paid traineeship, trainees will need to provide the following documents:

  • University Diploma

  • Passport/ID card

  • Medical insurance (For Italians copy of Tessera Sanitaria)

  • Signed traineeship agreement

  • Medical Certificate

     

    You are requested to examine the general eligibility criteria. Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications received is over, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. In case the selected candidate is not able to present all required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
