Key Priorities
Gender equality is a human right and a fundamental value of the European Union.
At 70th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) the EU welcomes the focus on access to justice, which is the backbone for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls and for ensuring their full enjoyment of all human rights.

Now more than ever we need international cooperation to advance on gender equality and women’s empowerment. We are witnessing challenging times, but we are determined to forge a better future for women and girls.
Gender equality is the engine of strong democracies, crucial for peace and prosperity.
Together, we will protect hard-won rights, reignite stalled progress, and face pushback with courage and determination.
Equality for all is our goal.
EU Gender Equality Strategy (2026-2030)
Building on the Gender Equality Strategy 2020–2025, the Gender Equality Strategy 2026–2030 reinforces the EU’s commitment to a Union of Equality. It translates the long-term vision set out in the Roadmap for Women’s Rights into concrete priorities for the next five years.
The strategy responds to persistent and emerging gender inequalities, from work and pay to care, safety, health and political participation.
Shaped by public consultation, it aims to deliver tangible, inclusive progress for women and girls, in all their diversity.

As we witness a global push back against gender equality, our commitment to justice is more critical than ever. The EU welcomes the focus on access to justice, which is the backbone for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls. We believe that a gender-responsive justice system is fundamental to realise the human rights of all women and girls.
Lars Westra, EU Youth Delegate to the UN
Young Europeans refuse to see a future for AI bots who can 'undress' girls, direct hate speech against young female activists, and attack women’s rights.
Young women and girls should be able to trust institutions to protect them against this. Not only in the offline world, but also online. This trust needs to be earned, and CSW70 is the place for the world to prove itself.
Veronika Novotná, EU Youth Delegate to the UN
Granting women and girls full legal equality isn’t a question of what is possible - it is only about the will to finally act.
For decades, the world has promised to overcome this uneven protection, but the fact that women globally hold only 64% of the legal rights men enjoy is an answer in itself.
I am thankful to the young generation for not giving up and for fighting for fair justice systems that don’t fail half of the world’s population.
