New York

14 November 2019, New York – European Union explanation of Vote delivered by Finland on behalf of the European Union and its Member States at the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly Second Committee, 22nd meeting on the Permanent sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources

I have the honour to speak on behalf of the European Union.

While reconfirming that, as in the past, the EU will support the Resolution "Permanent Sovereignty of the Palestinian people in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, and of the Arab population in the occupied Syrian Golan over their natural resources", I would like to put on record that the use of the term "Palestine" in this resolution cannot be construed as recognition of a State of Palestine and is without prejudice to the individual positions of the Member States on this issue and hence on the question of the validity of an accession to the conventions and treaties mentioned therein.

I thank you Mr. President.
