A Child-Centred Response to the Sexual Exploitation of Children in Street Situations

The Delegation of the European Union to the UN in New York, together with the Permanent Mission of Uruguay, the UN Special Rapporteur on the Sale, Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse of Children, Ms. Mama Fatima Singhateh, and the Consortium for Street Children, would like to cordially invite you to an official side event to the 80th session of the UN General Assembly entitled "A Child-Centred Response to the Sexual Exploitation of Children in Street Situations".
Children in street situations are among the most vulnerable in the world. They face endemic levels of sexual exploitation and are among those most at risk globally, yet they are often overlooked and invisible.
During the event, the Special Rapporteur will briefly present her thematic report to the General Assembly under the same topic, available here, followed by an interactive panel discussion focused on child-rights-centred, innovative and grassroots solutions to the sexual exploitation of children in street situations. The event will be informed by the perspectives and lived experiences of children in street situations themselves, which is kindly facilitated by Bahay Tuluyan (Philippines), Children In Need Institute (India) and Grambangla Unnayan Committee (Bangladesh).
