The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union between 27 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
As a UN observer with enhanced status, the EU coordinates the 27 EU Member States so as to speak with one voice. The EU also works closely with the UN secretariat and its agencies, funds & programmes, partnering on a range of global issues and challenges.
We offer a position of Policy Assistant. Under this position, the recruited person will serve as support staff in the Sustainable Development Section of the Delegation, and will contribute to the proper functioning of the section. Duties will cover policy and administrative tasks. This includes drafting and editing of reports and correspondence concerning EU policies on Sustainable Development and Agenda 2030, contacts with other diplomatic missions and the UN as well as active preparation of and participation in meetings. It will also include administrative support functions for the section such as the organisation of visitor programs and missions, filing, archiving, etc. This job function may be modified in accordance with the needs of the Delegation.

Salary level ranges between $5,598.00 and $8812.00 per month based on relevant employment experience. Benefits including a retirement savings plan, medical and dental insurance are offered to employees and their families under certain conditions. Working hours are 37.5 per week.

One year experience required
Thorough knowledge of written and spoken English

Ability and/or familiarity working in a multicultural office, as part of an international team
Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Knowledge of operation of an EU Delegation and/or UN is an asset
Knowledge of French and any other EU language is an asset
