EU Ambassador to Ghana interacts with beneficiaries of Erasmus+ scholarships for 2019

The Head of the European Union Delegation to Ghana, Ambassador Diana Acconcia on 26 June 2019, met with beneficiaries of the Erasmus+ scholarships from Ghana at a sensitisation event in Accra. Thirty-two (32) Ghanaian students were selected this year on the Erasmus Scholarship programme to study in prestigious European Universities. Most of the students are enrolled for Master's programmes in various fields of study with a few Post Graduate students.

Members of the Erasmus Alumni in Ghana, officials from the Political section of the EU Delegation and a representative from the Consular section of the Netherlands Embassy, Mr. Ivo Kersten, were present to interact with the students and answered questions that bothered on their preparations to travel to Europe for their studies.

Ambassador Acconcia urged them to work hard and to return to contribute to the development of the country and to also find solutions to the countries problems with the knowledge that they will gain from their studies.

Background:

Erasmus+ is the European Union's programme for education, training, youth and sports development for 2014 to 2020 to support projects, partnerships, events and mobility in the areas of education, training youth and sport.  Its budget of €14.7 billion will provide opportunities for over 4 million Europeans to study, train, gain experience, and volunteer abroad
