The European Union has a long tradition of offering traineeship opportunities in EU Delegations around the world. In New York the program offers trainees the opportunity to follow the various activities of the EU Delegation in UN bodies, such as the Security Council, the General Assembly and its various committees, the Economic and Social Council and its subsidiary bodies and the Peacebuilding Commission.
In close consultation with the candidate and the academic institution, a suitable portfolio will be identified within one of the following teams:
(1) Political Affairs and Security Council
(2) Human Rights and Social Affairs
(3) Humanitarian Affairs
(4) Economic and Trade / International Cooperation and Development
(5) Coordination, Press & Public Diplomacy
(6) UN Budget & Administration
(7) Legal and Institutional Affairs, Counter-terrorism and Sanctions

The duration of the internship program is between a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 months. Two internship periods are pre-defined which start on 1 January until 30 June and from 1 July until 31 December of a given year.
The deadlines for submitting applications are 27 August for the first half year internship and 15 March for the second half year internship period.

The EU Delegation will manage the selection procedure which is based on the candidate's qualifications and skills. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Pre-selected candidate must provide the following documents
In case the selected candidate is not able to present all required documents, his/her candidacy will be rejected.
E- Working conditions
Trainees shall comply with internal rules and instructions given by the traineeship adviser. In order to benefit from a real immersion into a professional environment, trainees will follow the same working hours as the rest of the staff of the EU Delegation. A trainee shall be entitled to two days of leave per month.
F- End of traineeship
At the end of their traineeship period, trainees should complete a report detailing the work that they have carried out during their traineeship and their assessment of their experience. An evaluation report shall also be drawn up by the Traineeship Adviser. The EU Delegation will issue the trainee with a Certificate specifying the length of the traineeship and the receiving section of the EU Delegation.
