EVENT: Her Voice - Her Vote: Aspects of Libyan women’s participation in elections

28/05/2021 - 11:43

Women in Libya have a critical role to play at all political levels in building peace. This event looks at the participation of women in the election process and what needs to be done to promote gender equality and parity in elections.

With the Libyan elections scheduled for 24 December 2021, it is crucial that all actors make gender equality and parity a key priority in the elections. In this event, we will listen to the personal experiences of former candidates to local municipal elections, and we will discuss with civil society organisations on what is needed to achieve gender equality and parity in elections. We will also hear how members of the international community support the efforts of Libyan women to promote gender equality in the upcoming elections.
