HRC58 Side Event - Combatting Sexual Abuse of Children in Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Contexts

27.02.2025

The Delegation of the European Union to the UN in Geneva is cordially inviting you to a hybrid side event on “Combatting Sexual Abuse of Children in Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Contexts”, organized by the UN Special Rapporteur on the sale, sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children, the Office of the Special Coordinator on Improving the UN Response to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (OSCSEA) and the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC). The event is co-sponsored by the Delegation of the European Union and the Permanent Mission of Uruguay.

The event aims to identify gaps in combatting sexual abuse of children within peacekeeping and humanitarian contexts and to explore how accountability can be prioritized as part of the response. Good practices and suggested pathways to an effective response will also be presented by those working to combat sexual abuse in peacekeeping or humanitarian contexts.

During the event, the Special Rapporteur will briefly present her thematic report to the Human Rights Council on Sexual Abuse of Children in Peacekeeping and Humanitarian Contexts, which is available here.
